MEET DENISE.
Denise Hayden, teacher at Floral Park Memorial HS
Denise Hayden is a celebrated educator with over 35 years of teaching experience, with a particular focus on AP Language & Composition in a school ranked in New York State’s top 5% for over 25 years.
In addition to teaching, Denise has graded AP Language & Composition exams for over 5 years and has been an AP consultant to the College Board for almost 15 years.
Denise recently completed her 25th year teaching an interdisciplinary Advanced Placement® United States History and Advanced Placement® English Language and Composition course at Floral Park Memorial High School. She and her former colleague, Nick Simone, presented a workshop about the AP® Interdisciplinary Program at the College Board® National Conference in Las Vegas in 2007.
A consultant for the Middle States Region of the College Board®, Denise has trained high school teachers across the United States and worldwide. She is also the author of two articles published on the College Board® website.
In 1992, Denise was named Teacher of the Year from Floral Park Memorial High School by the Sewanhaka Central High School District. In 2002, she was named an Educator of Excellence by the New York State English Council, and in 2012 she was awarded a Friends of Education Award by Stony Brook University School of Professional Development.
